Insulated Vinyl Siding

Advantages:

  • Stands up well to impacts such as hail
  • Provides better noise reduction
  • Resilient to all weather extremes
  • Requires less maintenance
  • Comes in a variety of colors and styles
  • Can potentially lower utility bills

Disadvantages:

  • Needs proper install to prevent warping and buckling
  • Mold can develop on the siding due to high moisture
  • Poor install can lead to loose panels in high wind

 

Vinyl Siding

Advantages:

  • Less expensive than other options
  • Not easily dented or damaged by impacts
  • Mostly maintenance free, needs occasional cleanings
  • Newer products have a real wood appearance

Fiber Cement Siding

Advantages:

  • Looks very close to hardboard siding
  • Long life expectancy of 50 or more years
  • Holds paint well to provide custom color options
  • Considered environmentally friendly
  • Resistant to insects

Disadvantages:

  • Material is heavy, needing proper support
  • Does not hold up to hard impacts such as hail
  • Lacks insulation properties, may increase utility costs
  • Requires expert installation to avoid toxicity issues
  • Costs more than other options

 

 

Steel Siding

Advantages:

  • Very durable and nearly maintenance free
  • Can last 40 or more years
  • Available in dark colors and wood-like styles
